We recently completed the refit of a commercial shop front in Pakenham in conjunction with local sign supplier Signarama Pakenham.  Signarama referred this job to us as we belong to the same BNI Pakenham Achievers Chapter

Previously a discount store, the new tenants were a Cartridge World franchise.  Signage had to be based on the registered colours registered with Dulux by Cartridge World

As a result in this instance we did use Dulux Paints

Whilst normally a job like this would be simple we had the challenge of textured bricks which made it harder to keep a clean straight line.  As a result we did use masking tape to ensure a even straight line was in place with the paintwork on the adjoining business as well as the horizontal lines at the bottom

Using a professional Painter and Decorator will ensure that the wallpaper is hung correctly so it’s in line with the walls, the pattern matches up and you don’t have problems with peeling and blistering.  Prior to applying the paper, the wall surface will also be filled (if necessary) and prepared to ensure and even and lasting finish.

As there are so many different designs and patterns available we always request the client purchase their choice of wallpaper.  We always recommending purchasing more than the actual wall measurements to ensure patterns can be lined up correctly which is more important with

We often get customers asking us if they can reduce the costs of their painting by using a trade paint instead of the high quality paints that we prefer to use.

If you are prepared to pay for someone to paint your home, why then try to save a few dollars for an inferior quality paint.

All paints are measured on the following

• Coverage/Hiding Power - How well does the paint cover after two coats
  
• Scrub resistance - how much wear will the surface incur after being scrubbed with a bristle brush
  
• Stain Resistance - stains including coffee and red wine
  

Trade paints generally perform lower than high quality paints in all three areas. 

Coverage tends to be uneven and if going from light to dark (or vice versa) often three coats are needed to fully cover the surface

These paints also tend to peel, flake and rub off more easily when being washed or scrubbed and are more prone to absorbing stains

In addition, trade paints are less durable with marks, scratches, knocks and bumps showing up a lot easier after minimal impact to the wall

Furthermore these paints have higher levels of VOC's releasing these toxic fumes into the air you breath long after the paint has been applied.

This is why we prefer to use high quality paints, while they may add on a few dollars to the cost of the work, you will find the surface looks better, is more durable to washing, scrubbing, stains and bumps as well as being kinder to the environment and the air you breathe.
